Ken Peterson’s passion for art started in childhood with drawing, painting and sculpting. He came full circle with his art as he progressed from childhood crayons to clay as a Design Sculptor for Ford Motor Company to his acrylics of today. As a young man, attending the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, he was hired by Ford Motor Company as a Design Sculptor.
Ken grew up in Northwest Michigan roaming the woods, fields and farms. He developed a keen sense of the design, rhythm and flow of the land and of its relationship to the objects of interest in his paintings. Many of his works are derived from his personal experience as well as his imagination. During the creative process, he often includes a challenge for the viewer, sometimes tricking the eye with hidden details. Ken’s interests are very diverse and range from landscapes, boats, wildlife, old fat fender automobiles and trucks.
In 2001 Ken retired and moved back to Northwest Michigan and now lives in Empire with his wife, Helen. He is constantly inspired and motivated to create his art, as his studio offers a view of both Lake Michigan and of the Sleeping Bear National Park.
